Amelia Chardonnay Now Featured in GS25’s April Promotion
Amelia Chardonnay, a premium wine from Latin America’s largest wine group Viña Concha y Toro, has been selected as one of the top eight wines by Korea’s national wine experts. This selection was the result of a blind tasting conducted in collaboration with GS25 convenience stores, where sommeliers, wine columnists, and YouTubers participated in evaluating a curated lineup. Amelia Chardonnay made the final cut and is now being offered at promotional prices across GS25 locations nationwide throughout April.
The judging panel included some of Korea’s most respected sommeliers, such as Jung Habong (Director of Food & Beverage at Sofitel Ambassador Seoul), Cho Hyuncheol (Head Sommelier at Lavigne Liquor Store), and Kim Sungguk (Group Head Sommelier at Josun Hotels & Resorts), lending further credibility to the selection.

The Amelia wine brand draws inspiration from Amelia Earhart, the pioneering aviator and first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. Her spirit of bold exploration and pushing boundaries is at the heart of Amelia’s identity. Today, that legacy is carried on by Lady Amelia Windsor, a member of the British royal family, who serves as the brand’s official ambassador.
Amelia Chardonnay hails from Chile’s Limarí Valley, a cool-climate region where Viña Concha y Toro has been experimenting with high-end Chardonnay production. Reflecting the brand’s adventurous spirit, this wine offers a vibrant profile with bright acidity, crisp minerality, and layered complexity—qualities that stem directly from the valley’s cool terroir. When I tasted it this past March, I was struck by its freshness—there was none of the overripe character sometimes found in Chilean wines.

The winemaker behind Amelia is Marcelo Papa, whose meticulous approach has earned the Chardonnay consistently high praise from critics. James Suckling awarded the 2017 vintage 93 points, while the 2022 vintage achieved a record-breaking 97 points. Tim Atkin MW also gave it 97 points, praising it as a serious alternative to Burgundy and even comparing it favorably to a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate has scored it 95+, and Wine Spectator has given it 93 points—further affirming its critical acclaim.
Thanks to its quality and growing reputation, Amelia Chardonnay is now featured in premium wine channels around the world. It has been served in Japan Airlines’ first-class cabin and is available at top-tier department stores such as Isetan in Japan and Harrods in the UK. In Korea, the wine was launched at GS25 convenience stores in November last year, making it more accessible to local consumers. And with the current promotion running through April, now is a great time to discover this standout Chilean Chardonnay.
